After symptoms of chest heaviness and shortness of breath kept him from doing his normal activities, Kayla’s grandfather went in for a routine heart procedure, only to receive the startling news that he would need open heart surgery.
“Because of his active lifestyle, he blew through the recovery process. He is living a happy, healthy life and still goes to the gym 3-4 times per week! Doctors say he will live to 100!”
Kayla’s grandmother has also struggled with heart conditions throughout her life. She too knows the importance of physical activity and how critical it is to maintaining her health.
“By living a healthy lifestyle and having determination, she has surpassed what the doctors predicted and is doing great! These two wonderful people mean the world to me. They are the major reason I am the person I am today”, says Kayla.
Inspired by her grandparents and her new career path, Kayla has made a personal commitment to an active lifestyle and is training to cross the finish line of her first 5K race at Run for Your Heart.
